You CAN control certain types of TERMITES in and around your home and at your place of business! Ask us how… Then do it yourself.

You Will Get Safe, Effective Results!*

General Information

First of all, it’s important to note that, not ALL types of Termites can be controlled by homeowners. If you are battling or wanting to prevent Subterranean Termites than we can certainly provide you with the Professional Termiticides and the in-detail-instruction to get the job done the SAME AS THE PROFESSIONALS would do, BUT if you are up against the Drywood or Formosan Termite, that is another thing all together. The Professional Products, such as Vikane Gas, are RESTRICTED USE PESTICIDES and may not be purchased by the general public. Not that it would do any good if you could by them! You see, where Drywood Termites are concerned, the entire house has to be wrapped in a tarp and sealed and then the chemical that has the ability to penetrate through every component in the structure has to be put into a device called a “heat exchange unit” to convert the liquid to a gas. THIS IS A DEADLY POISON, and even if I could legally sell it to you, I wouldn’t (For your safety!!)

Okay, now that I have cleared that up, it’s time to tell you what YOU CAN DO. The products for Subterranean Termites are classified as “General Use Insecticides” and we ARE able to sell these to homeowners and businesses to do their own Subterranean Termite Control. Now I am NOT talking about the pre-mixed, products that you get at the local department or building supply store. I am talking about Professional Grade Termiticides that are going to kill existing infestations and/or prevent future infestations for five to ten years!

There is a lot of hard work involved in doing this job yourself. We’re talking about digging a trench and flooding the trench with Termiticide and then putting the trench dirt back! There may even be areas (depending on which product you choose) that need to have have holes drilled through concrete or areas of wall that need to be cut to access plumbing fixtures and the ground where they come through the concrete slab.

If this hasn’t deterred you from wanting to do your own Subterranean Termite Control, then you’re in the right place!!

Oh, by the way, back to the Drywood Termites for a second. If you want to do preventative treatment for pre or post construction repairs, or, if you have a localized problem that you want to “Spot Treat” then we can help. There are Borate Products that you can treat the wood members you are going to use to construct a home or replace damaged wood in an existing home, as well as foams and crack and crevice aerosols that are labeled and designed for this type of application. In these cases, we would need to have you contact us for a free personal consultation.

Life Cycle

Where to Look for Termites

The most common indications that you have a termite infestation are:

  • The appearance of, what appear to be “flying ants” (A Swarm)

  • Any place where wood and soil is in contact (Wooden Fence Posts, Wooden Landscape Timbers, Wooden Deck Posts, Firewood Piles, Scrap Lumber Piles

  • The visible “Mud Tubes” that may appear on the outside of the house from the ground up, especially where the stucco is below the grade or on piers supporting a mobile home

  • Areas of painted door frames, or baseboards that have a strange “rippled” look to them and further inspection reveals that only the paint remains. All or a portion of the wood is gone.

  • Above ground planters, Bay Windows (framed out of wood, even in block construction)

  • Dirt-Filled porches or stairs

In such cases, we usually recommend that you have your professional exterminator do a complete termite inspection. If you don’t have one, we will happily make a recommendation. Your home is your largest investment. Find out all the facts and then talk to us. We will NEVER try to talk you out of a professional treatment if it is not in your best interest. Some things are best done by a professional, but if it is feasible for you to do it yourself, we will guide you through the process step by step.
