Pesky mosquitoes can make our lives miserable. Many yard and garden activities have been ruined by the constant attack of these annoying pests and the subsequent irritation caused by their bites.
Some mosquitoes are known to cause serious diseases. There are 80 mosquito species that can be found in Florida, more than any other state. Fortunately, only 13 pose a public health threat.
Mosquito control is very challenging for several reasons. First and foremost, they are airborne and cannot be relied upon to go to cracks and crevices or land in any specific area (other than on your skin, that is) like crawling insects. Apart from expensive “spray misting equipment” you can’t be standing around armed with a can of spray to attack them before they attack you. Secondly, they breed in SO many places and we unknowingly create the perfect breeding grounds for them in our yard and landscape plants.
For this pest, there are some very important “mechanical alterations” (a fancy way of saying things you can do or not do) that must be considered to keep this pest from breeding in your environment. These things combined with various insecticide or biological products can give you the best defense against this disease transmitting pest.
Don’t let mosquitoes win the battle for control your yard and garden–or your bedroom as you hear the buzz of this nasty flying creature swarming your head and making you crazy at night. We’ve got the weapons to help you win the war.
